Law of Attraction in Action

What are you vibrating today?

Now there's a question, and one I'll now be asking myself every chance I get. See, I've been interested in the metaphysical for as long as I can remember, ever since I found a book my Dad was reading called Bring out the Magic in your Mind by Al Koran. Since then I've studied popular psychology books and any number of mind power tomes, most of which have been really useful in changing my perceptions about myself and life in general. But the Law of Attraction is something which really grabs my interest. Theoretically, I get it, but putting it into practice is something else.

So, as one of my goals for 2010 I intend to study the concept more deeply to really get to grips with it. And guess what, my intention has already born fruit. Yesterday I discovered Michael Losier, I was going to say by chance, but understanding how intention works, I know that's not the case. In all my previous Internet searches on the subject I've never been drawn to him, but then I found a couple of audio downloads where Michael talks about the Law of Attraction. Wowee! I learned more about putting the Law into practice in an hour than the last couple of years. Michael has a no-nonsense, practical approach which you can start using right this minute. It's all about the vibrations we're sending out into the universe which are either positive or negative. These vibrations influence what we're attracting into our lives. Michael urges us to regularly check in with ourselves and ask what vibration we're sending out, because we can be sure to attract right back more of the very same.

If you're interested in the Law of Attraction, and especially in its practical application in your life, I would urge you to check out Michael's website, especially the articles page. His book The Law of Attraction is also available on Amazon.

Happy Vibrating!

Festive Greetings

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours started off in a disappointing way, when a trip we had planned to the south of France was cancelled courtesy of the Eurostar fiasco. Intending to be away, we didn't have any festivities planned, but the phone didn't stop ringing with calls from friends with last minute invites for us to join them over the holidays. It really lifted our spirits and reminded us of the true message of the season. It's not about overseas holidays, gifts and eating too much (all of which I love, don't get me wrong) but about the people who care about us - really care about us. We're blessed with wonderful, fabulous friends. Extra-special people who enrich our lives. So it's been a very happy Christmas in the Jones's household and to paraphrase Charles Dickens I'd like to send my friends a special message - God bless you, every one.

Sad day for Togs as Terry says goodbye...

Terry Wogan signed off his breakfast show for the last time today after delivering a wonderfully poignant speech that left me in tears.

I remember listening to Terry as a young newly-wed, far from home, missing my family dreadfully, and his unique brand of humour often cheered me up. My late dad was a fan and we'd share stories over the phone about what Terry had said that day, laughing together until we could barely speak. Terry's banter helped when I lost my dad, my grandparents, and other loved ones, including my much beloved dog, Barney.

In Terry's goodbye speech he mentioned that his listeners were like friends, and strangely that's how he felt to me. A friend. His lovely wit, his cheery voice, the sheer lunacy of the stories he told.

This morning I was late for work as I sat in my car listening to the last few minutes of Terry's show. It was freezing cold - the coldest day of the year - but hot tears slid down my face as he gave his speech. He said he was honoured to be "Someone that you're close enough to laugh with, to poke fun at and occasionally when the world just seemed a little too cruel to shed a tear with. And the years together have not only been a pleasure but a privilege."

Right back at ya, Terry.

Second release of the week

No Strings Neighbor is now available from The Wild Rose Press. It's been quite a week with two books releasing from different publishers, but I've really enjoyed the buzz. Here's the blurb for No Strings Neighbor:

Can a no-strings fling with her sexy, laid-back neighbor take a workaholic accountant’s mind off impending financial ruin?

Faced with losing her home, her job and the stability she’s craved since her nomadic childhood, the last thing Ellie Winters needs is an irresponsible new neighbor whose intentions are far from honorable. But as her situation deteriorates, Ellie needs a distraction. Soon she's in danger of adding another loss to her list—her heart.

Veterinarian Greg Buchanan is finally on his way to Africa to fulfill his dream. He’s sold his partnership, applied for his visa, and when his house/dog-sitting stint is through he can wave goodbye to the responsibilities that have tied him down. But one night with his sexy neighbor and Greg realizes that his problems have only just begun.

No Strings Neighbor is available in both digital and print versions.

First release of the week ...

This week I have two new releases to celebrate. The first, Play Me, released today from Samhain Publishing, is the story of Raul Stregone, a hot Sicilian billionaire with revenge on his mind, and Nina Avalon who is desperate to save her company from falling into his ruthless hands. Here's the blurb:

The cards have been dealt, but the game’s just begun…

Proving her worth to her male-dominated family didn’t include being forced to bet herself in a high-stakes poker game. But to save the family business and protect her father’s health, Nina Avalon is prepared to do anything. Even agree to a scandalous wager with a ruthless tycoon.

Sicilian billionaire Raul Stregone has revenge on his mind. When the opportunity to ruin the family who destroyed his drops in his lap, Raul plans to wreak his vengeance via the boardroom—and the bedroom—with the daughter of his adversary. Yet while he may have won her fair and square, it soon becomes apparent that she’s not going down without a fight.

But let her wrangle all she wants. One way or another, he plans on collecting his winnings.

My second release of the week, No Strings Neighbor, will be available on the 27th from The Wild Rose Press and I'll be back to tell you more about that on Friday.

Friday Foto - Clouds

It's been a week of rain, wind and general weather gloom, but this afternoon we were treated to clear skies and the most amazing cloud formations. The words and music of David Gates come to mind...

Of all the wonders I was one allowed
I think that I would always choose a cloud
...
Keeping secrets no one else could know
For I'm the one who told them so

Thought for the Writer's Day

Creative successes are often preceded by creative failures, for trial and error are the natural companions of creativity (Anon)

That's one to remember when all seems lost.

Refreshed and Recharged

Back from holiday in the South of France with a ton of ideas, not to mention some heady "hero" inspiration. Those Mediterranean males can certainly hold a girl's attention :)

Got a couple of plots boiling as well. Monte Carlo is one of my most favourite places in the world and it never fails to inspire a tale or two of passion and seduction in such a beautiful and glamorous setting. My fingers are itching to get the keyboard smoking!

There was an added bonus to our recent trip - fabulous art exhibits were scattered around the Principality in aid of the Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco. The Eco Art Parade 2009 is an environmental art exhibition and this year's theme was the Bonelli’s Eagle, an endangered species of the Mediterranean. The Foundation supports the protection of this eagle. The photo is entitled "Love your Life" by Gitte Peters - one of my favourite exhibits and located in the beautiful Casino Gardens.

Celebrating a New Contract!

Thrilled to have signed a new contract with Samhain Publishing for Play Me. Poker and passion in the glamorous south of France featuring a hot Sicilian billionaire with a penchant for blackmail. Gotta love those Mediterranean hunks with an arrogant streak. When they fall, they fall...fast and hard :))

Happy Father's Day...

... to wonderful fathers everywhere. I lost my own special dad twenty seven years ago, but he feels as close to me as ever. He still whispers in my ear when I get despondent, gently nudges me back on the path of self belief whenever I veer off, and urges me toward my goals and dreams. I can hear his wise words in many situations. Dad was an armchair philosopher, a sage with an encouraging smile. He could also be tough when required, and didn't mince his words. Whenever I said I couldn't do something, he'd tell me in no uncertain terms that if that's what I believed, then that was what would become true.

To dad - my very first hero.

A good way to end the week

Nothing quite like a pamper session at Bath's Thermae Spa to get the weekend off to a great start. Met a friend mid-morning then we headed for the rooftop pool, where you simply glide through the warm mineral-rich waters (that's Bath Abbey in the distance). Then we dragged ourselves down to the aroma steam rooms, where you can cool off under the waterfall shower before heading down to the Minerva Pool.

Here, the gentle current effortlessly tugs you around the pool. Then it was back to the rooftop (my favourite) to finish the session. All too soon it was over, so we consoled ourselves with lunch. It's a tough life. Ahh... already planning the next visit.

Take a look at the Thermae Spa's website where you can view a video of what's on offer.

Remembering the Heroes

Today is the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the biggest wartime operation ever. Hundreds of thousands of British & Allied personnel fought to ensure our freedom. Head over to The Royal British Legion's website where you can leave your own personal message on a virtual flag planted on a virtual beach in Normandy.

"Monaco, baby. Yeah!"

The immortal words of Jenson Button as he stormed home to win the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. It was a double whammy for me, not only because I'm supporting Jenson like crazy, but because Monte Carlo is one of my favourite places in the world. It's inspired the setting for some of my stories, not to mention heroes ;)

After a pretty much faultless race, Jenson's only mistake came after the chequered flag when he parked his car in the wrong place. It was a testament to how fit F1 drivers need to be that he was able to run back to the winner's podium, barely breaking a sweat. Ah, bless him.

Happy St George's Day

It also happens to be Shakespeare's birthday ... what better way to celebrate St George's Day than linking it with a celebration of this great English writer?

There's loads going on to celebrate Will's birthday - check out what's happening at The Globe and also at Stratford-upon-Avon. I used to live near Stratford - such a beautiful, beautiful part of the world and so steeped in history it's almost magical. Oh, to be in England now that spring is well and truly here...and a young man's fancy turns to love (well, I'm sure Will wouldn't mind a bit of Alfred Lord Tennyson in his post).

Snow continues to hammer poor old blighty ... but,

... as Will Young told us on BBC's Question Time last night "it's not the end of the world". According to Will we should have more fun in the snow. Apparently, £3 billion has been lost in productivity in the last five days, plus we're running out of essential salt/grit. But hey, let's focus on the fun. Why even human rights campaigner, Shami Chakrabarti, confessed she had fun making a snowman with her six-year-old.

So, there you have it. We should all just stop worrying, go out and have fun, build a snowman or two. Now, why didn't I think of that? Probably because I've spent the past week worrying about my hubby who starts work at 4am and drives through the snow and ice all day doing essential deliveries so people like Will Young can continue to play with his snowballs.

Shiny new contract!

I'm thrilled to have received a contract for No Strings Neighbor from The Wild Rose Press. What a lovely way to brighten a January day. Here's the blurb:

Happy 2009!

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, prosperous and happy 2009. Let's hope the new year brings some positive energy along with it.

Mine started pretty well and I've returned from a fabulous Christmas/New Year in France to find that A Temporary Arrangement has hit the publisher's bestseller list. It's currently at No.5 at The Wild Rose Press. The print version was also released on 2 January and is now available from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk

Later today, I'm going to (belatedly) write out my goals for the year with timescales attached, while polishing off the last of the chocolates. Which means that topping the goals list might be that old chestnut ... losing weight.
